Most people choose a hosting provider based on price but when you care about performance, SEO, Facebook and Google Ads, that’s a bad idea. If you’re on this page I’m guessing you’re not looking for the cheapest you’re looking for the best right?
A VERY common mistake EU business owners make is choosing hosting based out of the US or internationally when their target audience is mainland Europe or their local country. If website speed is important to you (which it should be!) you ideally want a hosting provider located in the same country (or very close by) as your visitors or target market.
You’ll find our preferred hosts for Europe in the table below. Here’s a one liner summary of each one:
Cloudways - this is a new-ish provider and has multiple options hosted in both the UK and mainland Europe and is by far the fastest because of their speed optimized server stack. Here you're getting the power of a dedicated server without the complexity AND you have the ability to scale up to the next level of CPU, memory and disk space if you need it. If you want the fastest choose this one.
They also have 60+ locations globally including the US, Asia and Australia - if you're serving a fully international market it may actually be better to host outside Europe. If you're unsure check your Google Analytics and see where the bulk of your visitors are coming from.
**They have a 3 day free trial BUT if you use the coupon code FASTHOSTING they'll give you $25 off your first invoice so effectively 3 days + 1 month free on the lower level plans**
WPEngine - if one of the original Managed WP Hosts with data centres in London, two in Frankfurt, Belgium and Ireland. Go with WPE if you have Woocommerce or a complex site that needs high quality backups and a staging environment. Not the cheapest BUT you’ll save money on web developers and support.
Kinsta - a premium managed WP hosting provider running on Google Cloud Platform with similar locations to Wpengine - Frankfurt, London, Belgium, Zurich and the Netherlands. For some types of sites they may be a better choice than WPEngine especially if you're running a large or complex site. If you're considering WPEngine it'd be worth looking at Kinsta too.
Siteground - the fastest Cpanel host and only marginally more expensive that the rubbish $3-5/month hosts! ...they have data centres in both London and Amsterdam. Best if you have a handful of small sites, have a tight budget and also need email hosting.
WPX Hosting - WPX does NOT have a mainland Europe location but they do have a London data centres so worth a look. They're an amazingly priced Managed WordPress Host with a great balance of price and performance with excellent support, email hosting too!
